What’s the longest trip you’ve ever taken?
Mumbai to San Francisco CA and Mumbai to Boston MA. These were in late 90s.
Now even Coimbatore to Bangalore looks longer, is it aging process?
What’s your best tip for budget travel?
Historical or religious travel destinations would cost less than a popular tourist spots. Book a flight during nights with even 2 or 3 changes in between. Do not offer for food and beverages. Do search for hotels to stay well in advance, preferably near suburbs. Do not go for continental dinner. Try street foods. Keep some money for reserve in case you may need in emergency. Take health insurance. Do not buy costly items abroad a budget memory items would do.
Who is your favorite cartoon character?
I like first Donald dug, then tom and jerry.
How does your mindset affect your financial success?
I had three times different cars. Now I am retired and going out in car is rare. So my mindset is whenever you want hire a taxi. Most people have luxury cars only for prestige. I don’t care about that.
I don’t buy unnecessary things. I am a minimalist.
Happily living without unnecessary debts. No loan, no commitment.
For health and food I spend. For clothes and necessary things I spend
I don’t envy on others. No comparisons. Happy living with this mindset.
If your pet could talk, what would be the first thing it says?
From puppy since 15-17 years, I brought her up my pet dog Oreo. Since it has black and white spots skin, my daughters named her. Oreo remembers all in our family including my two years old granddaughter. Everyone loves Oreo. Even during our breaks for 2-3 years, she lived in neighbouring house and back to us. She is a காலபைரவர், Hindu deity for Dog.
Have you ever regretted reading a book — which one and why?
Suppose, I wouldn’t have read this book, I would be normal like others, happily enjoying AI and spending time casually.
But having read and understood it’s warnings and forecasting future, now I am much worried like other readers.
Future would be tough and everything is changing now and then, everyone must become life long learning mode which is impossible for all.
That’s why I said having read whole book,my heart is heavy thinking about future generations.
What’s the best and worst airport you’ve been to?
Heathrow airport London, the best one.
Accra, Ghana Airport not just ok, as even baggage missing happened
To mention one more air the best is Zurich Switzerland.
What’s the most annoying trope in books or movies?
Though I would like to read futuristic books but at the same time warnings about future too much make us annoying and it reduces positive response from us.
Also in movies stunt scene particularly in Indian movies make us annoying due to too much violence. This makes you to avoid such movies in future for our peace of mind.
If you could relive one year of your life, which one would it be?
The year 1996, I fell sick and family also got disturbed. If it’s relieved, I would have been a stress less person, health would have been better.
Moral: Don’t enter the pool without knowing depth of it and your skill of swimming.
This is my life lesson learnt in 1996.
